2008 Tech Tip of the Month Sep 1) Randy Hofer provided an update on his experience with the AC conversion kits – one of the cars developed leaks. 2) Barry Thomas informed us that the Chaparral catalog has battery tenders for $39.97 plus $8 for shipping. This is a good price. 3) Greg stated that he posted, on the website, instructions on how to update your C6 with a Heads Up display. 4) Add a 1/8” diameter steel rod in the cargo cover to keep it from flapping when the top is down. 5) EZ Pass can be mounted, out of sight, under the hood under the air cleaner cover. 6) Periodically check your tire pressure, especially Z06 tire pressures (30 psig) are CRITICAL! Barry wore out a set of tires in 6500 miles! Also, check the rear wheel alignment. May Al Paul - If you only need two new tires you should mount them on the rear for better handling in wet weather. It is supposed to be good stuff, water beads up and off, Bob indicated that it made his car look good. Frank Dubeck reported on using pure nitrogen in the tires instead of air. There were no low-pressure warnings from the tire pressure sensors on some really cold mornings last month. February Presented by: Ken Woodcock If you have a 67 or a C3, check the top of your gas tank for the tank sticker. It’s a build sheet for the car. Be careful; its paper and its only glued on; very fragile. Ken Woodcock located the tank sticker (on top of the gas tank) on his 74 and brought in in for Show & Tell. Nice job Ken! Further discussion indicated that there can also be build sheets inside the steering column for electrical options and inside the car above the left rear well for interior options. January Presented by: Frank Dubeck Use N2 for your tires in place of air. Some members have seen less tire pressure fluctuation with temperature change then with air. It is believed that the moisture in the compressed air is the main culprit. This is a very controversial topic. Below are some links both pro and con. Decide for your self.
